Thirty Eight -Bronze Bells cast in Belgium, from 20 lbs. to 2,100 lbs. giving great range of musical possibilities. We recently added the 2,100 lbs. F bell referred to as the 'Bourdon.' That is the largest bell in the Carillon. The 3 largest bells (F, A, C) will ring every day at 12 noon. Additionally, the tower will feature a digital control system and carillon with speaker system. For special events a keyboard will be utilized for playing/concerts. Contribute your gift to the bells/tower in any amount. |
FIGURINE DESCRIPTIONS
MOVING FIGURINES- 1st TIER -Settler Figurines, established 1846 Dr. Wilham Victor Keidel -arrived in Texas December 1845. He was Gillespie County’s first doctor and Chief Justice. His son Dr. Albert Keidel built the Keidel Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg. Fort Martin Scott (1948-1953) -Alexander McDougall -served at Ft Martin Scott as soldier, left until leaving military, returned to marry Johanna Rahe and became blacksmith at Morris ranch. A McDougall family reunion has been held each year in Fredericksburg since 1946. Hermann Lehmann -established 1870 -Captured by Apache Indians and later held by the Comanche Indians and became the adoptive son of Quanah Parker (Comanche Chief). Max Hirsch -Born in Fredericksburg, 7/12/1880-7/3/1969 He was a Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse trainer for King Ranch. Won the Triple Crown with Assault in 1946. Gary Franzen -was the first competitor to get a perfect score during the Schuetzen Fest at the competition in 1967. The Schuetzen Fest (est. 1896) is a traditional festival featuring target shooting competition. Dancing Ballerina -representing Easter Fires Bill Petmecky, -(called “Mr. Fredericksburg” by locals), wrote the Easter Fire story for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fredericksburg. Colonel Alfred Petsch -Influential in Fredericksburg for over 60 years. Helped bring the railroad to town, founder of Fredericksburg Publishing, on the school board, founder of Fredericksburg National Bank, partner in Morris Ranch, to name a few examples. Alex Frantzen -Sangerfest -1st one was held in 1853. Established to promote German culture and music. Figurine will be Alex Frantzen - directing the band. Dancing Couple -Many community dance halls opened up during the early 1900” s. The Community dances were a traditional gathering of friends and family. Hugo Klaerner -Tuba Player -Hugo Klaerner was the County Sheriff for 30 years. Played tuba in many local bands. Note: figure will be a tuba player with Hugo’s facial likeness. Accordion Player -Arthur Klein was a regular member of Pehl’s Old Time Band. He lost 3 fingers on right hand, so he played keys with his left hand. Figurine will depict accordion player. Beer and Sausage Man -Frederick Probst brewery (1861-1895). Opa’s established in 1947. |
